In a World where it is a challenge to find anything that isn’t all singing, all dancing and as far from its natural state as you can imagine it can be scary choosing products for our babies. Life can be complicated and we are on a mission to create simpler lives for our children.
We had more or less forgotten about teething with Wolfie as we are so consumed with our already busy lives with Taormina. That was until he recently popped out six teeth in one week!
So it was perfect timing when Kangaroo Care, a company that produce beautifully natural wooden teething jewellery, contacted me to see if Wolfie and I would like to try some. I couldn’t say yes quick enough as not only is it beautiful but I must admit that as a breastfeeding mum I have a big problem!
My chest and neck is scratched to pieces, I even have scars from Wolfie clawing me as he feeds. Kangaroo Care specialise in creating timeless, handmade wooden jewellery that is perfect for breastfeeding and babywearing mums. Not only is all of their jewellery suitable for teething babies but it is also a fantastic tactile toy on the move.
I am happy to reveal that now instead of Wolfie clinging onto the skin of my neck and face he is now really enjoying rubbing and kneading both of my two gorgeous necklaces. I’m so pleased that not only do I love them but they keep Wolfie’s little fingers out of trouble as he feeds.
As you can see Taormina has taken a liking to this Applewood necklace above and Wolfie loves having a chew on it too. The jewellery is all incredibly easy to clean in warm water. The wooden beads have a slightly drier texture once washed and every so often you can rub in some coconut oil for a shinier finish. This necklace will look awesome in Autumn styled with a chunky cardigan!
Wolfie especially loves the shape and texture of the Grey and Charcoal Flower Mama necklace I am wearing in the picture, in particular he loves playing with the crocheted flower shape created with cotton yarn.
The last piece I have is a gorgeous Rainbow bracelet. I haven’t worn this much so far as Wolfie uses it as a teether and toy, he seems to really enjoy the different textures and colours. A little hack is to tie one of the ends onto your sling or baby carrier so your baby has easy access to play and chew to their hearts content whilst you are babywearing.
One of the things I love the most about my new jewellery is that it will not expire. I know I will be wearing these gorgeous items far past Wolfie’s babyhood as I love them and nobody would ever know their created purpose! I spend all day and night with my children and am constantly covered in food and snot. For once, it is nice to be wearing something that truly feels like it is for me yet with a sneaky purpose.
I would highly recommend heading over to the Kangaroo Care etsy shop to have a look at their large selection of jewellery that is perfect both for mum and baby. You can even request a custom make which is amazing as I have my eye on a necklace with a cat or dolphin on. They are super cute and look like they would be fabulous for fiddly little fingers.
Do you have a problem with baby claws? Have you tried any natural teething jewellery?
Thank you again to Kangaroo Care for kindly sending me some of their wonderful jewellery. As always all opinions are my own.
